This page is designed to work on a full-screen desktop monitor and tablets in landscape view, and works best with a mouse (as opposed to a touchscreen). Choose a school, click on the planning units, and build your own boundaries. Tables update as boundaries change. Scroll all the way to the bottom for all options.

Instructions
  • Select the starting map (just elementary is available right now).
  • Hover over a planning unit to get statistics about that planning unit.
  • Select a school from the dropdown menu. If you click on a planning unit, that planning unit will be assigned to the school from the dropdown menu. All units that are part of the school selected will be highlighted on the map.
  • Table of school populations is refreshed when changes are made.
  • Table of planning units below populations is refreshed when changes are made. If you have boundaries you like, don't forget to export them so you can save them. Use the search bar to limit your saved list to certain schools or certain planning unit numbers.
  • You can change the number of students going to an option school at the bottom of the page. Type a number between 0 and 1 where 0 means that no students are going to an option school, and 1 means that all students are going to an option school.
  • You can choose which schools are option schools at the bottom of the page. Any school that was a neighborhood school that becomes an option school will have all of its planning units unassigned and must be assigned to a new school by the user.
  • You can choose the number of preschoolers by school at the bottom of the page.

  • All default numbers for the option schools are estimated by ArlingtonStats.com. These may differ from actual values.
  • We assume that each 18 pre-schoolers displace one 24-person kindergarten classroom; hence, capacity declines by 6 for every 18 pre-school students.
  • Demographic data for certain types may be censored by APS. Any values between one and nine for english learning, economically disadvantaged, or disabled student are ArlingtonStats.com estimated values and may differ significantly from the actual APS values.
  • All demographic data and projections are *not* allocated to option schools, option school populations are *only* only calculated for total school enrollment statistics.
  • Numbers with a * are estimated.
